The Official Dirty Coin Bitcoin Trading Cards Are Here — Only 500 Ever Made

By Dirty Coin  ·  October 24, 2024  ·  4 min read

If you've been following the Dirty Coin documentary journey, you already know that every piece of this project is made with intention — from the filmmaking to the community we're building around it. Today, that extends to something you can hold in your hand: the official Dirty Coin Bitcoin Trading Cards, created in partnership with Bitcoin Trading Cards.

These aren't generic merchandise. They're a limited-edition collectible designed for the people who were here from the beginning — Bitcoin enthusiasts, documentary fans, and anyone who believes in a more honest conversation about energy and technology.

The Satoshi Edition: What Makes These Cards Special

The artwork on the Dirty Coin Bitcoin Trading Card comes directly from our Satoshi Edition poster — one of the most visually striking pieces of art we've produced. The front of each card features that iconic imagery printed with a premium foil finish, giving it the kind of tactile quality that makes a collectible actually worth collecting. The back carries a description of the film itself, making each card a conversation starter as much as a keepsake.

The cards were first unveiled at our screening during the 2024 Bitcoin Conference in Nashville, where they were offered as ticket upgrades to attendees. The response was immediate — within hours, a significant portion of the print run had already found homes.

The Misprint Variant: An Accidental Rarity

Here's where it gets interesting. Out of the 500 cards printed, exactly half came out wrong — and that makes them arguably more valuable.

On the misprint "black" cards, the hare and tech characters that appear in vivid orange on the standard edition instead render with a dark, near-black hue. It's a production anomaly — the kind of error that, in the world of trading cards and collectibles, tends to become the thing people actually hunt for. Think of the misprinted stamps and error coins that command premiums at auction decades later.

The result: two distinct variants, each with a run of 250, and neither will ever be produced again.

Only 500 cards were ever printed. Half are misprints. Both editions are limited forever — this run will not be repeated.

How the Cards Are Being Distributed

Over half of the 500-card run has already left our hands — distributed to cast, crew, key supporters, and attendees at the Nashville screening. Here's exactly what remains and how to get it:

Once these 210 cards are gone, they're gone. There is no second print run planned — the entire Dirty Coin trading card series is capped at 500, permanently.

More Than a Collectible — You're Supporting the Film

Every card purchase goes directly toward promotion and distribution for Dirty Coin. The documentary has already screened across four continents and won awards at festivals in Puerto Rico, Warsaw, and Liverpool — but reaching the widest possible audience requires resources. Buying a trading card is a tangible way to be part of that.

If you believe Bitcoin deserves a more nuanced, evidence-based conversation in the public sphere — and that documentary film is one of the most powerful ways to spark it — this is a concrete way to make that happen.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will there be more Dirty Coin trading cards in the future?

There are no plans for additional print runs of this specific Satoshi Edition card. The 500-card run is the complete and final edition. Future collectibles may be released separately, but this series is closed.

Are these official Bitcoin Trading Cards?

Yes. The Dirty Coin cards were produced in partnership with Alladan and the Bitcoin Trading Cards team, who specialize in high-quality collectible cards for the Bitcoin community.

What condition do the cards ship in?

Cards are shipped in protective sleeves to preserve their condition and collectible value.

Can I buy both variants?

Yes — the orange and black editions are sold separately. Many collectors are purchasing both, particularly because the misprint variant is the rarer of the two in terms of desirability.
